Mark J. Stewart, MD

Fellowship-trained, Board-Certified in Pain Management
Dr. Stewart is an interventional pain management specialist at Augusta Back
Neuroscience. He specializes in the nonsurgical relief of pain, including epidural steroid
injections, radiofrequency treatments, sympathetic nerve blocks, facet blocks, sacroiliac
blocks, peripheral nerve blocks, and many others. A host of pharmacologic agents may
also be utilized, but the emphasis is on non-narcotic methods of pain control.
Dr. Stewart earned a Bachelor of Science with General Honors and Honors in Chemistry
Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in Athens, and a medical degree
from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed a four year internship
and residency in Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Georgia. He is a Diplomat of
the National Board of Medical Examiners and a Diplomat of the American Board of
Anesthesiology.
Dr. Stewart is fellowship-trained in pain medicine. He completed his fellowship at the
Medical College of Georgia, Department of Anesthesiology. Following his fellowship,
he successfully completed the board-certification process and was awarded Subspecialty
Certification in Pain Medicine.
Dr. Stewart has given multiple presentations at medical conferences including "The
Jehovah's Witness in Anesthesia" and "Neuropathic Pain: History, Current Concepts and
New Horizons".
Dr. Stewart's professional memberships include the Richmond County Medical Society,
the Medical Association of Georgia, the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists, the
American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Society, the American
Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the Georgia Society of Interventional Pain
Physicians and the International Spine Intervention Society. |
